Renault has raised questions after revealing their 2020 launch event on Wednesday won't feature their new car.

The Enstone-based outfit had been expected to show off the R.S.20 at the L’Atelier Renault on the Champs Elysee in Paris, but on Monday confirmed only press conferences would take place with senior figures and both drivers, Daniel Ricciardo and Esteban Ocon.

Also, only glimpses of the new car in a special testing livery will be shown to conclude the presentation.

It does seem strange that Renault would go to the extent of hosting a major event in the French capital without including their new car, particularly if the decision is cost-related.

However, answering the obvious question of whether there are any delays with the 2020 car on social media, the team has insisted it is on schedule and will be revealed in Barcelona prior to the start of testing.

By creating the uncertainty though, certainly isn't an ideal way to start a crucial season for Renault, who need to make progress after stalling somewhat in 2019.

But with so much of their focus already switching to 2021, it's unknown at this point just how much development has gone into this year's design.
