Kimi Raikkonen will stay at Alfa Romeo with Mick Schumacher to be confirmed as his teammate for 2021.
According to The Race, the Finn is understood to have triggered a one-year extension clause in his original contract two-year deal back in Sochi.
This after Raikkonen saw enough progress in recent races to have motivated his wish to carry on for a 19th season on the grid.
“[It's going] in the right direction little by little," he is quoted as saying about the 2020 car.

“It’s all the areas, we all know the engine is not where we or Ferrari want it to be, but that’s out of anybody’s hands at the moment.
"We need to concentrate on the things that we can change, and obviously it comes to the chassis and the aero.
“The aero is always one of the most important parts of the F1 car. We’ve been improving it, but there’s still scope to improve.”
And ahead of his first Friday practice outing in F1 with Alfa at the Nurburgring tomorrow, rumours are also growing that Schumacher, the current F2 championship leader, will be announced as Antonio Giovinazzi's replacement.
Although recently, speaking to the official F1 website, the Italian remains sure he can convince the former Sauber team to keep him on for a third season.
“I’m happy with what I did so far,” Giovinazzi, who has scored just 16 points since the start of last season, said about his 2020 campaign.
“Still no news from my side, [I] just need to keep pushing hard and see what happens.
“There is still half a season, still another eight races, so we need to see but of course I’m trying to do my best and [we will] see what will happen.”
