Max Verstappen completed a sweep of all three practice sessions after brought running to an early end to FP3 at the Turkish Grand Prix.

With track conditions already very slippery in the dry due to the track surface, drizzle before the green light forced drivers onto intermediate tyres right from the start.

But while many scrambled for grip, Verstappen was able to put together a short stint of six laps, managing a best time of 1m48.485s.

Charles Leclerc also continued to enjoy the difficult conditions in second, with Alex Albon third in the second Red Bull.

Unsurprisingly, spins were much more frequent as drivers struggled to generate heat into the tyres, with Turn 7, in particular, proving very tricky.

Leclerc and Esteban Ocon also had a small tangle at Turn 12, as the Renault was spun around.

As the rain intensified, the water simply began to sit on top of the ultra-smooth, closed surface necessitating the move to full wets.

However, generating temperature proved even harder despite the deeper grooves and a heavy downpour saw the drivers retreat to the garage.

In the wetter conditions, even the curved straight from Turn 2 to Turn 3 proved a challenge, with Leclerc, Carlos Sainz and Antonio Giovinazzi having lucky escapes after losing the rear of their cars.

And with the rain continuing to fall as the chequered flag was finally shown, qualifying certainly looks set to be an absolute lottery, should it go ahead at all.
