Both Ferrari drivers were not satisfied despite setting the pace in practice at the Dutch Grand Prix.
Charles Leclerc was fastest, just 0.004s faster than teammate Carlos Sainz in the second session at Zandvoort on Friday.
But the Monegasque is sure there is more speed to unlock, particularly as Red Bull has yet to show their hand.
"We picked up the pace a little in FP2, but we were not quite there with the car balance on my side," Leclerc admitted.

"There’s some work ahead of us and I’m confident we can make a step forward by tomorrow.
"We were all very close apart from Max [Verstappen] and Checo [Perez], but I don’t think they had a clean day so it will be interesting."
As for Sainz, he was pleased to see Ferrari rebound after the underwhelming pace at Spa.
“It’s great to be back feeling competitive, being there at the top of the times all weekend," he said via Formula1.com.
"Also the car gave me great confidence. I’m optimistic going into the rest of the weekend, but also feel cautious because I know everyone can suddenly find two-tenths and beat you.
“It’s great to be back at such a challenging track, demanding as it is. I enjoyed driving out there, even better when you look at the times we did out there.
"But I'm also very surprised with how quick everyone is," he noted.
"McLaren, Mercedes, Red Bull, we are all within three-tenths of a second, but I’m sure it will make everything very tight for tomorrow, and exciting."
