Pascal Wehrlein admits he has little interest in returning to Formula 1 claiming it is "not a competitive sport".

The young German was once considered the future at Mercedes, having joined Jules Bianchi as the only drivers to score a point for the Manor/Marussia team, doing so in 2016.

However, he was dropped by Sauber after 2017 and would leave the German manufacturer's young driver stable at the end of last year, a decision he certainly doesn't regret.

“I couldn’t be happier than I am in my current situation," he told Speed Week. “I drive in Formula E and sit in the simulator for Ferrari, and I drive at a team that performs.

“I have fun again for the first time in a long time."

As a result, Wehrlein admits he would only consider a front-running seat in F1.

“It has to be a good fit, like this year in Formula E," he continued. “I’m definitely not going to a Formula 1 team where I know I’m fighting for 18th place, I don’t want that situation anymore.

“In F1, it’s not a competitive sport. I’ve already had two opportunities to win in FE and it makes me feel like a real racing driver again.”
