Sebastian Vettel enters the Canadian Grand Prix "optimistic" that Ferrari can challenge Mercedes.
It is well-documented that the long straights of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve are expected to better suit the Scuderia, who have had a power advantage over their rivals all year.
The big question is whether Ferrari can be competitive enough in the corners to keep up with the Silver Arrows and Vettel offered a teasing outlook ahead of the first practice session.
"I am not sitting here trying to paint things black, we haven't done a single lap this weekend," he began, as quoted by GPFans.
"It was a strong track for us last year and we have some tricks up our sleeves whether they work or not we will see.
"There are some ideas to improve where we are and they sound quite promising so I am optimistic but the real proof the only proof is the stopwatch."

Early signs aren't exactly encouraging though, with Mercedes holding a big advantage on Friday morning in Montreal.
But looking forward, the four-time F1 champion does expect the gap to reduce.
"I'm not too stressed. We go step by step and we have certain things in the pipeline," he said.
"I think we have an understanding of what the car needs. Some things that we can apply short-term, other things may be more long-term."
