Piero Ferrari, son of company founder Enzo, has warned Formula 1 stewards they risk causing a feeling of bias against the team among fans.

Last Sunday in Austria saw a second race-deciding decision go against the Italian team as Max Verstappen kept the win following an aggressive pass on Charles Leclerc in the closing laps.

This followed Sebastian Vettel's controversial penalty in Canada, with Ferrari admitting both situations may stir conspiracies from the Tifosi.

“The risk is that our fans begin to suspect there is a bias against the Scuderia, I prefer to think it’s not true," he told Italian media.

“We cannot afford a loss of credibility. The passion of the common people, of the man on the street, must be respected.”

To ensure it is, Piero called on F1 to overhaul the regulations, making each decision much more "understandable" for the audience.

“We all need simpler rules, transparency," he stated.

“We must, as far as possible, make Formula 1 easily understandable, in its dynamics and in the eyes of the public.

“And then we need uniform judgment on controversial episodes. Do this or the people will become disaffected.”
