Mick Schumacher admits he never considered pursuing any other career path than following his father Michael into motorsport.

The 20-year-old initially raced under a different name during his karting years but would reveal his identity as the son of the seven-time Formula 1 champion in European F3.

Mick would go on to claim that crown last year and in 2019 has enjoyed both his first F1 test back in April and a first win in F2 at the Hungaroring.

While realising the pressure that would come from following in his father's footsteps, Mick insists his only focus was to achieve that goal.

"A plan B? No, that was never there for me. Simply because I think that if you have a plan B, you will never go full for plan A," he told the German edition of GQ.

“Driving in Formula 1 has always been my dream and you always try to make dreams come true."

Should Mick make that final step to F1, he will become the third member of the family to do so, with Michael and his brother Ralf racing together in the 2000s.

And the German is keen to live up to the reputation of his surname.

"The name Schumacher is not only linked to success, but also to passion and loyalty," he said. "That is a tradition that I would like to extend into the future."
