Nico Hulkenberg remains confident he will remain in Formula 1 in 2020 despite his Renault axe.
On Thursday, Haas confirmed they will continue with Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean for next season, taking away what was considered the most likely option for the German.
Indeed, just a day earlier, Hulkenberg had confirmed his future was still uncertain.
“There’s nothing signed currently, but my team and I are working on it,” GPFans quoted him as telling German broadcaster n-tv.

“There is definitely interest and options that we are working on, there are negotiations and talks, but nothing concrete has been decided yet.
“But if I want, I’ll get another race seat.”
InsideRacing understands the most likely alternative for Hulkenberg lies at Alfa Romeo and contact has taken place between the driver and team.
Alfa chief Fred Vasseur is a big supporter of Nico, having brought him through junior series at ART Grand Prix and also signed him to Renault in 2017.
Finally, while the financial aspect was likely a factor in Haas' decision to continue with Grosjean, that is not believed to be a hurdle in replacing Antonio Giovinazzi, who has struggled to get a foothold alongside Kimi Raikkonen.
Whether Ferrari, who has access to a race seat with the Swiss outfit for a junior driver, would allow Hulkenberg to take that spot is likely the critical factor to a deal.
