Lewis Hamilton hopes he can win over the partisan Ferrari fans after being booed again post-race at the Italian Grand Prix.

Having won at Monza for Mercedes in four of the past seasons and pushed Charles Leclerc hard for the victory throughout this past Sunday, it’s not surprising that the Briton isn’t exactly adored by the Tifosi.

But on an Instagram story on Sunday, the five-time world champion sent a message of love for the Italian crowd regardless of their feelings toward him.

“Italy, wow, your energy today could be heard across the world and for that, I admire you so much,” he wrote.

“The passion you show is really special. The booing isn’t so pleasant but it’s ok, I can take it. I hope that over time things change and we no longer see booing in such a beautiful country.

“No matter what, I wish all of you positivity and only good things in your lives.”

His comments come just a few days after he spoke of an improving relationship with Ferrari fans, including plenty of requests to one day race in red.

Until that day comes though, perhaps it is only after Hamilton retires that the respect he deserves is given.
