Formula 1 management has played down recent reports of two new teams trying to join the grid in 2021.

After an outfit named Panthera Team Asia confirmed their effort back in August, on Thursday, Monaco Increase Management in partnership with Campos Racing announced their intention to join the grid to coincide with F1's new regulations.

However, despite both parties hyping up talks with Liberty Media, F1's owners insist nothing serious is yet on the table.

"Following publicity in recent days from several entities that have indicated their ambition to participate in the FIA Formula One World Championship from 2021, while Formula 1 appreciates their interest, we can confirm that there are no serious discussions with any persons or companies about the admission of a new team," a statement read.

This is in line with comments made by FIA president Jean Todt back in Singapore, but, as F1 reaches crunch time in discussions over the 2021 rules, by no means does this rule out anything changing in the coming months.
