The partnership between Prema and the Ferrari Driver Academy will provide another great addition to the team for 2018. Coming from Sao Paulo, Brazil, Gianluca Petecof will be lining up for a double effort in the Italian and German Formula 4 Championships.

Born in 2002, Petecof joined the FDA program last December and he is now ready to make his full-time debut in single seaters.

Petecof enjoyed a fair share of success in kart racing, including a 5th place in the CIK-FIA World Championship, OKJ class, and raced as a manufacturer driver in the Tony Kart Racing Team.

For him, 2018 will be a challenging and busy learning season, with the goal of making progress and preparing for an exciting future while battling among the rookie contenders.

“It is always exciting to welcome a young driver graduating straight from kart racing. Both the team and driver need huge commitment in search of mutual understanding, and by working professionally, there are great chances of improvement and success." Commented Team PrincipalAngelo Rosin

"Gianluca definitely has a lot of talent which is the most important thing, and with the support of Prema and the Ferrari Driver Academy, I’m sure that everything else will come naturally.”

Petecof Added: "“2018 is set to be a big year for me since it will be my first in single seaters. I will be racing in Formula 4, and I'm excited about the new challenges of the season ahead."

"To race for the incredibly successful team that Prema is, and to be part of the Ferrari Driver Academy, representing the most successful and legendary brand in Motorsport, is something that every young driver dreams."

"I couldn’t thank Shell Racing enough for their amazing and constant support. I'm looking forward to fighting at the front, and can't wait to get everything started!" He concluded

In 2017, Weerts was runner-up in the Rookie championship with Team Motopark. He hopes the move will boost his title challenge.

Charles Weerts (16, Belgium) is about to embark on a second season in the ADAC Formula 4 series, but this time with a new team. The teenager from Aubel in Belgium will be driving for Van Amersfoort Racing in 2018. Weerts spent his rookie season of 2017 with the German team, Motopark.

And it was a successful campaign, during which he lifted the Best Rookie trophy three times in 21 races – at Oschersleben, at the Lausitzring and in the season finale at the Hockenheimring. In the class for newcomers, he finished the season as runner-up behind Rookie champion Mick Wishofer (18, Austria).

Weerts already has plenty of racing experience in a single-seater, a fact that was not lost on the management of the illustrious Dutch team. “His strong performance last year quickly brought him to our attention,” says Jeroen de Jong, principal of the VAR Formula 4 setup.

“Charles is highly success-oriented. His second place in the ADAC Rookie championship and his current form are clear evidence of his quality and an indication of the direction he is heading in.”

During the European winter break, Weerts is competing in Formula 4 races in the United Arab Emirates where he leads the standings with two more rounds to go, having won three races and made nine podium appearances. He has high expectations of his new partnership with the Dutch team: “The record of results at VAR say it all. My current lead in the UAE F4 Championship fills me with optimism that I will once again be able to prove my worth in ADAC Formula 4."

"I aim to be one of the front-runners. I just can’t wait for the season to start.”

Enzo Fittipaldi will be back under the Prema banner for the second straight season in 2018.

The 16-year-old Brazilian will take full advantage of his 2017 experience in the Italian Formula 4 Championship and will approach his second year in the category with a more complex program including the Italian and the German championship.

It won’t be his first time in the ADAC-promoted series for Fittipaldi as he already made an extremely positive debut last year at Nurburgring with a podium finish overall.

In the ACI series, his main 2017 commitment, he grabbed several points finishes overall and put up a brilliant performance in the rookie competition, with two wins achieved en-route to a second place in points.

For him, 2018 will feature a challenging program aimed at making another positive step while remaining under the guidance of the Ferrari Driver Academy.

“We are proud to welcome Enzo back for another year together. He was brilliant in how he faced his first steps in full-time open-wheel racing, and his results were really positive too." Said team manager
Grazia Troncon

"It will be absolutely interesting to see him line-up for such a busy season and we are sure that, continuing the same progression of 2017, he will become a top contender, highlighting the work done with the team and the Ferrari Driver Academy.”

Fittipaldi added: ""I am very excited for the new season and I am really happy to be working again with a top team like Prema."

"Last year was a positive one and I am really confident that this year will be one to remember! Really looking forward to the start of the season!"
