Championship leader Mitch Evans sent a warning shot to his rivals by topping the times in Practice 2 in Marrakesh.

As drivers completed full 250kw power runs ahead of qualifying, the Jaguar driver posted a 1m17.309s to hold a two-tenths advantage over Lucas di Grassi in the Audi Abt machine.

Robin Frijns, Pascal Wehrlein and Alexander Sims highlighted how close the times will be as 0.019s covered the three drivers from third to fifth, with the Diriyah race winner only just over half a tenth behind di Grassi in second.

Nyck de Vries was sixth in the first Mercedes with Santiago winner Max Guenther seventh in the second BMW i Andretti.

Edoardo Mortara was eighth with James Calado half a second down on teammate Evans in ninth in the second Jaguar.

The two Nissans followed with Oliver Rowland completing the top 10, though teammate Sebastien Buemi did lead the timesheet after the Attack Mode runs before dropping to 11th.

Porsche struggled for lap time with Andre Lotterer dropping to 13th after featuring highly early on and his teammate Neel Jani was only 22nd.

Sam Bird also disappointed in 14th but every tenth really did count as a second would cover the top 16 cars down to Brendan Hartley in the first of the Geox Dragon's.

Stoffel Vandoorne was a lowly 20th in the second Mercedes, ahead of Felipe Massa in the Venturi.

Reigning champion Jean-Eric Vergne's miserable start to the weekend continued as well in 23rd, having not completed a full power run, with only Ma Qinghua behind him in the NIO 333.
