The NTT IndyCar Series is set to limit the number of staff that are allowed trackside when the 2020 season gets underway.
Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus the series has already seen its opening four rounds cancelled, with plans currently in place to resume action at the Texas Motor Speedway on June 6.
According to RACER, the series will introduce a cap of 20 members of staff per entry in a bid to prevent further spread of the virus.
Andretti Autosport has a total of six entries which would limit it to a total of 120 staff, and the team have been taking steps to allow them to function with a reduced staff.
Andretti COO Rob Edwards said: “It is challenging, (but) there was a time when 15 was a normal number, so 20 feels like a luxury compared to the days of old.

“Coming up with most of the 20 is a function of necessity, isn’t it? There’s the six crew that go over the wall for tires and fuel and air jack; the aeroscreen attendant; plus your driver, your race engineer, your performance engineer, your systems engineer, and your spotter, so that’s 12 already. Add a couple of truck drivers and it gets you to 14.
“Where I think you start on some of the efficiencies is with some of the extra support engineers.”
It is understood that there are no guidelines on the type of personnel that need to make up the 20 members of staff, with some drivers choosing to travel with family or personal staff.
