Lance Stroll had some harsh words for his former team, Williams, after he was asked about comments by technical director Paddy Lowe.
Towards the end of last year, the British engineer claimed the Canadian had entered Formula 1 too soon after jumping straight from European F3 as an 18-year-old in 2017.
While it is true Stroll struggled initially after joining the team, he retorted by pinning the blame on Williams for producing an uncompetitive car last season.
“All I can say is that the car was badly born last year and the engineers did not know how to develop it during the season,” he told Le Journal de Montreal at the launch of the new Racing Point livery in Toronto.
“When I took part in a test session two days after the last race of the season in Abu Dhabi, I was 1.4 seconds faster in a car I had never driven,” Stroll noted.
“I think the times did the talking in Abu Dhabi but it’s a thing of the past, I’m starting a new chapter in my career.”

And the 20-year-old was only happy to talk up the potential of Racing Point, the team bought by his father last summer.
“We have an outstanding organisation, which we have proved in recent years with limited resources,” he said.
“We don’t want to be at the back of the pack, which happened too often last year [at Williams].
“Podiums are achievable. Our new team has the means to beat many teams in F1.”
