Kevin Magnussen says he will have a chat with teammate Romain Grosjean after their nudges during the Spanish Grand Prix.

Bunched up after the Safety Car caused by Lance Stroll and Lando Norris, the Haas pair almost repeated their collision at Turns 1 and 2 twice shortly after the restart.

Initially, it was the Dane getting ahead of Grosjean to claim seventh place but only after touching wheels and then a little more damage would be done as the Frenchman tried to respond on the next lap.

“There was contact between me and Romain which isn’t what you want to see but nothing intentional,” Magnussen told Sky Sports post-race.

“Glad we still got both cars in the points, [but] we will have a chat as it is worth talking about.”

Certainly, it could have turned out much worse for the American team who had dominated the midfield all weekend.

And though Grosjean dropped to 10th as his pace dropped off in the closing laps, it was still seven key points for Haas who hadn’t scored since Australia.

“It is great to have a good result after a few bad races,” Magnussen commented. “We have been struggling with tyres but they seem to be working much better this weekend, from Friday all the way to the race.

“The upgrade has worked well, it is not massive but it is a lot of parts, but the biggest thing is having the tyres working.

“It has been a lot hotter this weekend so hopefully now that we are going into summer races we will have more hot races and we can have a good performance.”

Haas now sit sixth in the Constructors’ standings, seven points behind fourth-placed McLaren.
