Artem Markelov is set to make a one-off return to Formula 2 by racing for MP Motorsport at Monaco.
The 24-year-old Russian will replace Jordan King in the Dutch team, while the Briton participates in the Indianapolis 500.
With his experience in GP2 and Formula 2, resulting in nine wins and a runner-up position in the 2017 championship, Markelov will be a supersub for Jordan King, who signed to drive for the entire 2019 F2 season bar the Monaco round clashing with his Indycar commitments.
“I am very happy to join MP Motorsport at Monaco”, said Markelov who is currently racing in the Japanese Super Formula championship.
“Monaco is a special place, and I can’t think of a better occasion for a one-off return to Formula 2. I’m looking forward to meeting lots of old friends, and of course wish Jordan all the best in his effort to win the Indy 500!”. He cocluded
