Marc Marquez  topped a wet third practice session at Phillip Island despite a crash near the end of the session as conditions began to improve.

Johann Zarco was a late charger to go second, ahead of another impressive performance from KTM Factory Racing’s Pol Espargaro.

Zarco was an early crasher in the session, as well as the headline drama as Jorge Lorenzo suffered a fast crash. The five-time World Champion was up and walking away but headed to the Medical Center for a check.

With rain affecting play, Aleix Espargaro therefore remains top on the march to Q2, followed by Marquez, Andrea Dovizioso, Cal Crutchlow, Maverick Viñales, Jack Miller, Andrea Iannone, Zarco, Dani Pedrosaand Pol Espargaro.

As well as Lorenzo not being given the chance to improve by the weather, Valentino Rossi is the other big name now left heading for Q1.
