Mercedes is facing punishment after breaching fuel temperature regulations ahead of practice in Singapore.
A report from FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer confirmed tests on the fuel for Lewis Hamilton’s car found the temperature to be more than 11C cooler than the ambient air at Marina Bay, exceeding the parameter under Article 6.5.2 of the technical regulations.
It is an area closely followed by the stewards because cooler fuel offers a performance advantage from the engine in some circumstances.
Based on precedent, no kind of sporting penalty is expected for Hamilton. Back in Austria, Alfa Romeo was given a 5000 Euros fine for the same offence.
