Mick Schumacher has finally confirmed he is a member of Ferrari’s young driver Academy.
The son of seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher, Mick has taken a huge step forward in his bid to also reach the pinnacle of motorsport in the past year.
He won the European F3 title with an incredible run of performances including a run of five straight wins at one point and will be stepping up to F2 for 2019 with Prema.
During that time he was courted by both Ferrari and Mercedes but the path upto F1 appears more clear with the Scuderia, who have a permanent seat for a young driver at Sauber available.
“I am thrilled that Ferrari has entered a partnership with me and my future in motorsport will be in red, being part of the Ferrari Driver Academy and also of the Scuderia Ferrari family,” Schumacher said.
“Again, this is another step forward in the right direction, and I can only profit from the immense amount of expertise bundled there. Be sure I will make everything to extract whatever helps me achieve my dream, racing in Formula 1.
