Championship leader Franco Morbidelli (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) shot to the top of the standings after the checkered flag came out, taking the top spot from Thomas Luthi (CarXpert Interwetten).
It was a fairly straight forward session, with Fabio Quartararo (Pons HP40) coming under attack from a wasp and Mattia Pasini (Italtrans Racing Team) crashing out in the final few minutes. Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Ajo) ended the session third fastest, and looks well on his way to securing his first Moto2 victory.
