Marc Marquez set the fastest lap of the weekend to take the top spot in FP3, from Maverick Viñales and Danilo Petrucci.
The majority of the session remained the same as FP2, but the last five minutes proved to be crucial for those who wanted to head straight into Q2 without the fuss of Q1. It was all change, as Marquez took the top spot from Petrucci and Viñales then lapped quick enough to put him into second, pushing Petrucci back to third in the very last moments. Aleix Espargaro put in a last minute attempt that paid off and he ended the session in tenth, squeezing himself straight into Q2.
Apart from improvement, there was also disaster in the last five minutes for Johann Zarco, Sam Lowes and Dani Pedrosa who all crashed out to bring their sessions to an abrupt end. All riders got up and walked away, and both Pedrosa and Zarco made it into Q2.
