Belgian rally ace Thierry Neuville is poised to break his second-place curse and claim his first FIA World Rally Championship title at this week’s Central European Rally.

Driving for Hyundai Motorsport, Neuville currently holds a 29-point lead over teammate Ott Tänak with just two rounds remaining in the season. The Belgian has been a consistent force in the WRC, finishing as runner-up five times since 2012, but this year could be his breakthrough season.

The Central European Rally, known for its challenging Tarmac stages across the Czech Republic, Austria, and Germany, presents a unique test for drivers. Unpredictable weather conditions add to the event’s complexity, making it a crucial round in the championship battle.

While Neuville remains focused on a consistent performance, the opportunity to secure the title is tantalizingly close. With a strong showing, he could finally realize his long-held dream of becoming a world champion.

Other notable contenders include Toyota’s Sébastien Ogier and Elfyn Evans, as well as M-Sport Ford’s Adrien Fourmaux, Grégoire Munster, and Jourdan Serderidis. The 2024 WRC season has been filled with intense competition, and the Central European Rally promises to deliver another thrilling chapter.
