Moto2 qualifying didn’t start so well for the Tech 3 team, as both riders – Xavi Vierge and Remy Gardner, went down in the very opening moments. Gardner was the first to crash, and while he was picking himself up and dusting himself off, his team mate Vierge went down in sympathy in exactly the same spot. A bizarre event, but Vierge did manage to get back out with sixteen minutes to go.
Danny Kent isn’t having an ideal weekend either. He’s been drafted in to replace the injured Marcel Schrotter at the Dynavolt Intact GP team, but was involved in an incident yesterday with Alex Marquez. He went to Clinica for a check up during FP3, and was diagnosed him with whiplash. He did make it out for the qualifying session, and will start from
Mattia Pasini (Italtrans Racing Team) controlled the session, setting the fastest lap on his fourth try. He couldn’t quite live up to his fast lap again, and came under attack from Franco Morbidelli (EG 0,0 Marc VDS). In the closing minutes, Morbidelli came close but subsequently had the lap cancelled for exceeding track limits. He went on another flying lap, and came within one thousandth of a second of Pasini’s flying time, but had to settle for second in tomorrow’s race with his team mate Alex Marquez in third.
