Kimi Raikkonen made it three top 10s in a row with a solid eighth-place finish at the British Grand Prix.
The two Alfa Romeo’s sat in decent positions just outside the top 10 after qualifying but it was the madness in the midfield just after the Safety Car which presented his opportunity to move up the order.
From that point, it was a case of hanging on, however, as the Finn revealed an unusual weakness for the team this season.
“It was the best that we could do. I think the car behaved better in the race, especially in the second part, but we lacked a bit of straight-line speed,” he revealed.
“My best bet was always to get stuck behind somebody with the DRS.
“In the end, we had to go faster to keep the Toro Rosso behind. It wasn’t the easiest weekend, but we got some points so it’s good.”
For many though, Antonio Giovnazzi was the pantomime villain as his off at Vale caused the Safety Car which impacted the battle at the front.
“We had a puncture but we don’t know why, so we’ll need to check the car when it’s back,” said the Italian, who had scored his first F1 point n Austria.
“We’re not really happy with today, especially because we were close to Kimi, and Kimi finished P8, so we could also have got points but you know, that’s just it. ”
