Daniel Ricciardo has been thrown out of qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix after his MGU-K breached the permitted power output.
The electrical aspect of the engine is limited to 120kw (161hp), however, FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer reported that a reading above that figure was taken during Q1 in qualifying.
As a result, Ricciardo, who had finished P8, is now set for a pit-lane start for Sunday’s race which may help avoid any Turn 1 trouble but makes any chance of a points finish particularly tricky on the tight streets of Marina Bay.

It is also a massive blow to Renault, as they try to hunt down McLaren for fourth in the Constructors’ standings, having reduced the gap to 18 points after Monza.
However, Nico Hulkenberg will at least inherit Ricciardo’s P8, but with Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris either side of him.
