Team Hansen MJP’s Timmy Hansen fought back from a difficult weekend so far to set the quickest time in Q3 at the Spa World RX of Benelux, round three of the FIA World Rallycross Championship.
Hansen took the hole shot in Q4 race 3 from the outside of the grid and drove alone at the front of the race to set the quickest time and climb to fourth in the Intermediate Classification ahead of the semi-finals.
Norway’s Andreas Bakkerud was fifth quickest after losing track position to Spa first corner overtaking specialist, Russia’s Timur Timerzyanov, but remains TQ (top qualifier) in the Intermediate Classification and will take pole position in semi-final one. Timerzyanov’s GRX Taneco team mate Joni Wiman won Q4 race 4 and was third quickest, he is second in the Intermediate Classification and will start on pole in semi-final two.
Holding off ALL-INKL.COM’s Muennich Motorsport Timo Scheider in the first two corners, GC Kompetition’s Anton Marklund was second quickest in Q4 and will start on the second row of semi-final two, behind Wiman and Timmy Hansen.
It will be an all RX Cartel front row in semi-final one, Britain’s Liam Doran joining Bakkerud on the grid, with Timerzyanov and Team Hansen MJP’s Kevin Hansen on row two and Scheider and EKS Sport’s Krisztian Szabo on row three, even though Szabo failed to finish Q4 after contact with GCK’s Guerlain Chicherit. Marklund will line up next to Team STARD’s Janis Baumanis in semi-final two, with Sweden’s Mattias Ekstrom and France’s Cyril Raymond on row three.
