McLaren is actively considering a bid to complete their own triple crown with Fernando Alonso by entering the Le Mans 24 Hours.
The British team already has the Monaco Grand Prix ticked with the double Formula 1 world champion and has twice been unsuccessful in adding the Indianapolis 500 to that list.
And at a time when both F1 and Le Mans organisers the ACO are considering significant rule changes in the next two years, McLaren CEO Zak Brown sees no reason why the French endurance race can't be targeted.
"Once we understand what the rules are and how we are doing in Formula 1, we will take a position on whether to get involved or not and when," he was quoted by F1i.com
"If everything suits what we want we would be a couple of years away."

The earliest possible entry could come in 2021 but the American admits there is still a lot of factors to consider.
“It would be risky for our debut to be at Le Mans 2021," he admitted. "We would have to be ready one or two races before that, so we need to be ready to compete in April or May 2021.
"It depends on how fast we can make a decision. The timeframe is very large, as well as all the different scenarios that are being negotiated."
For Alonso, the Le Mans box is already ticked, having won with Toyota last year and will attempt to repeat that feat next weekend on the Circuit de la Sarthe.
However, to achieve it again with the same team would be a historical achievement.
“I think it would be a great story to win them with him, having already won Monaco already and maybe in the future, we will race in France together," Brown said.
"Of course McLaren has been around for a long time and will continue to be around much longer, even after Fernando retires."
