Racing Point can still become a race-winning team in Formula 1 in the long-term, says owner Lawrence Stroll.
The Canadian is overseeing the rebuilding efforts underway at the Silverstone-based outfit, including plans for a new factory as the operation outgrows their current base.
This is just the early steps of the much bigger plan Stroll has for Racing Point, who explained what has taken place since he bought the remains of Force India last summer.
“We first wanted to restore the financial stability of the team and give the engineers the means to develop the car,” he was quoted by PlanetF1.
“For now, we want to continue fighting in the middle of the pack, aiming for fourth place in the Constructors’ standings.
“In the longer-term, the goal is to be one of the best teams in the paddock and aim for victory.”

This season has perhaps exceeded some expectations as Racing Point sit fifth in the Constructors’ standings after six races, mostly thanks to a strong weekend in Baku.
That puts them ahead of such names as Renault and Haas despite the difficult birth of the current car.
“In 2018, they did not have all the funds necessary to prepare the car for this year,” Stroll noted.
“We knew that the first races would be difficult, but we will try to make changes faster than the other teams.
“Maybe not as fast as the big teams, but as fast as we can.”
A big update is expected next month in Hockenheim and this weekend’s home race in Canada is another which might just offer the chance for a strong result.
