Toro Rosso will officially become AlphaTauri on Valentines Day next year after the 2020 car launch date was confirmed.
It was agreed back in October that the junior Red Bull team would be rebranded for the first time since buying the former Minardi squad in 2006, taking the name of the company’s new clothing brand.
The team will keep the same line-up from the end of this season, however, with Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat behind the wheel of their two cars.
This year, the two drivers both scored podiums for the Faenza-based outfit, Kvyat in Germany and Gasly in Brazil, helping them equal their best Constructors’ Championship position in sixth with 85 points, the most Toro Rosso had scored in a single season.
In a first, AlphaTauri’s launch will take place at Red Bull’s Hangar 7 in Salzburg on February 14th with the new car expected to feature a black and white livery to match the brand’s colour scheme.
The announcement follows Ferrari revealing a February 11th reveal of their 2020 challenger.
