Yamaha have confirmed that Valentino Rossi will not be able to compete in the upcoming Gran Premio di San Marino after breaking his tibia and fibula in a training crash.

Yamaha team confiermd also that they will compete at Misano with Championship challenger Maverick Viñales as their sole rider. 

Rossi has been discharged from hospital after spending one night at the ‘Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Ospedali Riuniti’ in Ancona.

After receiving surgery on the fractures in his right leg, the Italian’s condition improved enough for him to leave the hospital.

“I will begin the rehabilitation as soon as possible and we‘ll see how my body reacts before making any decisions.” Said Rossi

“I will do everything I can to get back as soon as possible.” He added

Rossi is expected to miss the Aragon round also later this month.
