New Honda rider Jorge Lorenzo will undergo surgery on Monday 21st January after he sustained a fracture to the left scaphoid while training in Italy.
The five-time World Champion was admitted to hospital on Sunday 20th January after experiencing pain in his hand, with the team confirming he had suffered a fracture via social media later in the day.
This will mean Lorenzo is to have surgery on the same arm that he injured in his huge Thai GP crash, which severely interrupted the end of his 2018 season.
The Spaniard also underwent an operation on his right foot during the off-season in December, and now he faces a race against time to be fit for the first Sepang test, which takes place on 6-8 February.
