Charles Leclerc does believe he’s now approaching the same level as teammate Sebastian Vettel after his victory in Belgium.
The Monegasque dominated the German this past weekend at Spa, even forcing Ferrari to use Vettel in a support role during the race to keep Lewis Hamilton at bay.
And speaking post-race, he suggested the weaknesses he had compared to the four-time world champion are slowly being addressed.
“I’ve changed my approach a little bit and I think I’ve been in better form [than Vettel] in qualifying since six races [ago],” Leclerc was quoted by GPFans.
“In the race, it’s been a bit of a different story. I’ve been struggling a little bit in the two previous races but I’ve changed and it seems to pay off [at Spa] so that’s great.”

Having now secured his first Formula 1 win, and based on the progress he is making, Leclerc now wants to move on to the next goal for 2020.
“If I feel like I’m ready to be challenging for world titles, at the end I have the car and team for it,” he continued.
“We obviously need to work because we are struggling a bit compared to Mercedes but on my side, yes, I’ve got a lot to learn, that’s for sure, but I feel ready.”
While that might be considered as exuberant, the 21-year-old argues it is critical to achieving success at Ferrari.
“You always need to feel ready, once you are in that position, otherwise I shouldn’t be in the seat that I am in today,” he stated.
