Red Bull has revealed the first shot of their new RB16 ahead of a shakedown at Silverstone on Wednesday.
The Anglo-Austrian team is talking up expectations of a realistic championship charge in 2020, after making strong gains during their first season with Honda last year.
And given their traditional chassis strength, if that can be repeated along with more strong progress from their Japanese engine supplier than Red Bull can be a real threat this season.
Already, Red Bull has made a statement of their intent going forward by signing their star driver Max Verstappen to a new three-year contract until the end of 2023.
And the Dutchman is expected to lead the charge against Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes in what is the final year that he can become F1’s youngest world champion.
Alongside him will be Alex Albon, who impressed with his consistency during a nine-race stint with the team in the second half of last year.
This season, however, the Thai driver will need to show he can mix it with the very best on the grid pace-wise, having often been a few tenths off last year.
As mentioned, preparations for the new season will begin with a 100km filming day/ shakedown at Silverstone ahead of the first test in Barcelona, starting in a week’s time.
