Daniil Kvyat has suggested Formula 1 can drop Friday practice from the Grand Prix weekend format.
His comment came after the heavily compromised running last time out in Baku when the first session was cancelled due to a loose drain cover and two red flags in the second.
As the sport considers future changes, reducing the amount of practice has been one topic discussed.
With the Toro Rosso driver admitting today's technology makes the need for four hours of running before qualifying unnecessary.
"Maybe we need to just come on the track on Saturday," said the Russian. "That's it. Honestly, we are so up [in terms of knowledge] on all the tracks we know.
"I think we need to allow extra time on new tracks, like it's going to be Vietnam or something, maybe, but I don't know.
"It's up to F1 people to decide, what is best and what is not. Every driver is different. Someone needs maybe five hours but, not me."

Most also believe limited running would produce more exciting races, as was the case last year in Austin but Red Bull boss Christian Horner has another reason for agreeing with Kvyat.
"If we end up with more races, then arguably we do need to condense the time," he said.
"We saw one session worked well enough on Friday here [in Baku]. Maybe one good session is the way to go. Then parts and people could turn up a little bit later.
"One session is enough for the weekend."
