Nine-time World Champion  Valentino Rossi says he has already begun light physiotherapy and aims to bet back on track as soon as possible

Rossi has extended his thanks for all the support he's been shown following his accident in training, and although he will miss the upcoming San Marino GP, has said he's already started physiotherapy - and that he's eager to get back on track as soon as possible.

Here's what the rider from Tavullia had to say ahead of the paddock's arrival at Misano.

"It's a big pity that I can't be at my home GP. For sure, I was really looking forward to the round in Misano, because riding in front of the fans there is something very special, but I have to treat the injury with care." Said the Doctor

"I know the team is supporting me during the rehabilitation process. Fortunately I'm fine, I'm not too bad and I've already managed to start some light physiotherapy." Added Rossi

"The recovery time isn't short, but I will do everything I can to get back on track as soon as possible. I have to say thanks to everyone for the affection you have shown me during these days. See you soon!

Maverick Viñales was only a tenth off Andrea Dovizioso over the line at Silverstone, but it was another 20 points for the Championship for the rider from Roses as he took another podium – his 50th over all classes.

And after a DNF for key rival Marc Marquez in the British GP, it’s Dovizioso now out front - with Viñales in third and trailing Marquez by only four points; thirteen off the Championship lead.

He’s never won at Misano, but he has been on the podium – and knows he’s riding for the most successful manufacturer at the venue since racing returned there in 2007.

After a successful test for the Yamaha MotoGP team on the Adriatic ahead of Silverstone, Viñales will be looking to change his stats in 2017 and take his first win there.

"Unfortunately we will arrive at the Misano Grand Prix without my teammate Valentino and it's a big shame." Said Vinales who will be the sole Yamaha rider at Misano

"I know it‘s a very special GP for him, as it's his home race, and it will not be the same if he‘s not there." Said the Spaniard "I wish him a quick recovery and hope to have him back in the garage as soon as possible."

"We are very motivated after the podium at Silverstone, we‘re working in the right direction again. I'm starting to have the same feeling on my M1 that I had at the beginning of the season and that gives me a lot of calm and allows me to focus on continuing to get points in each race."

"It's very positive that we were able to give a good performance in the test at the Misano track some weeks ago and we improved a lot of things on the set-up, so I will try as always to give my 100% to bring a new victory to Yamaha."

After taking Italy’s 100th win in the MotoGP™ era, ‘DesmoDovi’ has a chance to make history again at Misano.

Another race, another 25 points. After taking back-to-back wins for the second time this season at Austria and then Silverstone, Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso became the first man to win four races this year – and took back the Championship lead.

No one other than Casey Stoner had won more than three races in a single season for the Borgo Panigale factory before ‘DesmoDovi’ began his assault on 2017.

Now it’s back onto home turf for the rider from Forli, as the paddock heads for the Adriatic and the Riviera di Rimini. On paper, Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli shouldn’t suit the Italian rider on the Italian bike as well as some of their rivals – but the same was true of Silverstone and Dovizioso and Ducati once again ripped up the form book to write a new one.

And there’s another chunk of history at stake as well as the title fight – if Dovizioso wins, he’ll be only the second Italian rider to win both races on home turf in one season, matching Valentino Rossi. If he comes home in the top three, he’ll move up from equaling Kenny Roberts on premier class podiums and level with Barry Sheene.

All in all, it’s not going too badly. And not since 2007 has a Ducati rider arrived at this stage in the season leading the Championship, with the home crowd surely ready to give Dovizioso another boost at Misano.

"Coming to Misano as leader of the Championship is fantastic, " Said Dovi "Even though I’m really sorry that Rossi will not be there, as it would have been great to also battle against him."

"In the past the Misano circuit hasn’t been too favourable for Ducati, but a couple of weeks back we did a very positive test at this circuit and we are on good form, and so we’ll be trying to take home the best possible result." He added

Currently Dovizioso leads the championship with 183 points, 9 points clear of Honda's Marc Marquez and 13 ahead of Yamaha's Maverick Vinales.

Following illness on Friday at the British GP, Silverstone didn’t perk up much for Jonas Folger after the German suffered a huge crash in Warm Up and subsequently didn’t start the race.

Uninjured but heading to hospital for a precautionary CT scan, Folger was given the all clear and headed home to get ready for Misano.

Previously honing in on teammate Johann Zarco in the standings following a stunning second place finish at the German GP, Folger has now lost some ground in the fight to be Rookie of the Year after sitting out Silverstone and suffering a mechanical fault in the race in Austria – but he’ll be back to full fitness and raring to get the show on the road at Misano, where he’s scored solid points and top ten results since his first visit in the 125cc World Championship in 2008. Also planning to try out the aero fairing again, Folger is sure Italy will see a turnaround.

"Of course I am looking forward to this weekend after the tough time that we had at Silverstone but I am sure that we are going to have more luck in Italy." Said Folger

"I have great memories at Misano, including a pole position in Moto3 and some good results in the past."

It’s a track that I really like a lot and perhaps we will try the new aerodynamic parts again because I think we will have an advantage with the winglets at Misano." He added

"I am sure that we will have a better time than the last three races and I hope to finish the weekend with a lot of points."
