Prema Powerteam announced today that Roman Staněk will join the Italian operation for the 2020 Formula Regional European Championship.
The 15-year-old Czech racer comes from a highly-impressive rookie season in Formula 4 competition. Running in the German F4 Series, Stanek delivered two overall wins and cruised to the rookie title, finishing fourth in the general classification. Staněk also finished fifth in the Italian series, adding one more win to his name despite not entering a full season.
Having found great chemistry at his first season in single-seaters, Staněk is graduating to the following step towards professionalism. He will join a team that dominated the 2019 series with 16 wins and 13 pole positions and is now looking forward to remaining on the same levels in 2020.
Having shown plenty of outright pace and a mature approach, the team is confident of Staněk’s potential as a frontrunner and as the early testing indications have been great so far, everyone is confident of the start of the 2020 season.
Team Principal Angelo Rosin said: “Roman has been extremely successful in his rookie Formula 4 season so we can’t wait for him to join us for 2020. Of course, he is very young, but he already showed the speed and consistency required to move up the ladder and be successful right from the beginning.”
“We always look forward to working with new talent, and Staněk really impressed us. We are delighted to have him on board as we brace for what we hope will be an extremely positive new season.”
Roman Staněk commented: “I am thrilled to join Prema Powerteam for the 2020 Formula Regional European Championship. Last year it was my first season in car racing and I was really satisfied with the results.”
“I am proud to make the move to Formula Regional and I will do my best to be competitive right from the beginning after the positive tests we had together. The team is one of the strongest in motorsports and I have been really enjoying driving the car so far. I am confident about the potential and I can’t wait for the start of the season!”
