MP Motorsport has announced that Richard Verschoor will join them for the remainder of the 2024 FIA Formula 2 season and race full-time with the team in 2025.
The Dutch driver is returning to MP Motorsport, the team where he first debuted in Formula 2 in 2021, taking over from Dennis Hauger for the final two races of the current season. Over his F2 career, Verschoor has claimed four race wins and secured eight podium finishes, including four this year.
Verschoor’s history with MP Motorsport dates back to 2019 when he and the team won the Macau FIA F3 World Cup. Reflecting on his return to MP ahead of the Lusail race, Verschoor shared his excitement, calling it a “homecoming.”
“Signing up with MP for more Formula 2 feels like coming home,” said Verschoor. “I’ve spent half of my racing career with MP, so continuing together in 2025, along with the final 2024 rounds at Losail and Yas Marina, means a lot to me. Our partnership has seen success across Formula 4, Formula 3, and Formula 2, including that unforgettable win in Macau. I can’t wait to head to Qatar and get back to working with the team.”
MP Motorsport’s Team Principal, Sander Dorsman, expressed his excitement about Verschoor’s return: “I’m thrilled to welcome Richard back for another Formula 2 season. We’ve celebrated many wins together, and his extensive F2 experience will be invaluable as we prepare for the new season. Richard’s return reflects our team’s family-like approach, and he has always been a natural fit with us. At the same time, I want to extend my thanks to Dennis for his contributions over the past two seasons, where he achieved three wins, nine podiums, and two poles. I’m confident he’ll reach new heights in his career in North America.”
