Honda rider Dani Pedrosa had a tough race at Misano, struggling to get temperature in the tyres in the colder and wet conditions on Sunday.

But the three-time World Champion managed to bring it home and stay on despite feeling like he was riding on ice, taking another couple of points.

Now it’s MotorLand Aragon, and back on home turf. Pedrosa has won there, in 2012, and had some good podium results – including a stunning duel against Valentino Rossi in 2015 that he went on to win and take second.

That makes for good reading as the 'Baby Samurai' gears up to get back on his incredible mid-season podium run.

"It was a disappointing weekend in Misano two weeks ago but we’ve already put it behind us and are looking forward to the next race in Aragón." Said the Spaniard

"We know that we can be much faster if we are able to have positive practice sessions, finding a good setup for our bike and making the tyres work as best as possible for us."

"I really enjoy going to Aragón and I’m looking forward to racing in front of my fan club and my home crowd. I hope the weather will be kind to us and I can be in the battle for the podium again!"

Yamaha Tech 3's Jonas Folger crossed the line in ninth at Misano in the wet to take a good haul of points, but after some more difficult races - including being unable to start the race at Silverstone - the German is aiming to do some catching up this weekend in the points battle to be Rookie of the Year.

Having already taken a podium in his rookie season, at home in Germany, Folger has shown some serious pace - and really likes MotorLand Aragon.

"As always, I am looking forward to the Aragon round because I think it’s a beautiful track and one of the nicest circuits that we visit." Commentes Folger

"For sure we are going to get the typical Spanish weather there, plus the layout is great and it’s a lot of fun to ride."

"There is a good mix of corners and hard braking areas, plus a long straight, so overall, it’s a track that I really like." He added

"I hope that we are going to score more points at Aragon than we did in Misano because I still want to win the Top Rookie battle in the championship."

"We lost some ground in the last few races so we have to make up some points but I will fight." Concluded the German

After testing his fitness on a Yamaha R1 for a number of laps at Misano on Monday and Tuesday, Valentino Rossi has decided to attempt to take part in the upcoming Aragon Grand Prix.

The Italian will need to be passed fit to ride in order to take to the track, and would then head out in FP1 to further assess the possibility of racing on Sunday.

Dutch WorldSBK rider Michael van der Mark will replace the nine-time World Champion if he is unable to compete in the event.

"Fortunately, yesterday I had a good test with my YZF-R1M in Misano. I tried also the day before, but the rain stopped me after a few laps." Commented the Italian

"Yesterday I managed to complete 20 laps and found the answers I was looking for. Eventually, the test was positive and I want to say thanks to Dr. Lucidi and his staff, who helped me find the best solutions to feel the least amount of pain possible in my leg when I‘m riding."

"Obviously at the end of the test I was in a little bit of pain, but this morning I went to Dr. Pascarella for a medical check, and it came out with a positive result." He added

"At the end I decided I will leave for Aragón and will try to ride my M1 this weekend. If I will be declared fit to ride, I'll have the real answer after FP1, because riding the M1 will be a much bigger challenge."

"We'll see. See you in Aragon!" Concluded Rossi

The Italian will make a final decision on his attempt to compete in the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón after a further medical examination.

Having ridden his first laps around the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on Monday, Movistar Yamaha MotoGP's Valentino Rossi was back aboard his YZF-R1M today at 3:30pm (GMT+2) to resume his physical test.

During the two-hour private riding session the nine-time World Champion was able to complete 20 laps in total.

He wrapped up this second day of testing with an improved feeling and a more positive impression compared to yesterday.

On Wednesday Rossi will undergo a medical examination - to verify the positive rehabilitation progress experienced in today's session - after which he will make a final decision on his attempt to take part in the Aragon Grand Prix.

A further update will be given after the Italian's check-up.
